5 Favorite Holiday Must-haves
Every year, the holiday season seems to sneak up on me and before I know it, I'm crunched for time to get everything done. Between all of the extra hours worked, holiday parties, buying gifts, preparing meals, cleaning the house, working late, decorating, running errands and somehow finding time to eat, sleep and shower myself, I can barely keep it all together. Anyone relate?
To help to avoid the holiday overwhelm, I've compiled a list of some of my favorite things that save me precious time and help me to get through the crazy busy holiday season while looking great doing it!
You may be wondering how this eyeshadow has anything to do with the holidays or saving time, but let me tell you- it is a MAJOR game changer! Every time I wear this eyeshadow I get so many compliments but the best part is that it's super quick and easy to apply and literally takes ZERO skill to do it!
When I want to look glam but I'm in a rush, all I do is sweep this across my eyelids with the applicator brush and use my fingers to rub it in & blend it out. It goes on super metallic-y and very sparkly, making it PERFECT for a holiday party or New Year's Eve.
It makes your eyes look like you did a complicated eyeshadow look when it really takes no time at all. They also come in so many fun colors, the hardest part is choosing which one to order! (My current fave is Smoldering Satin but they are all so pretty- you can't go wrong!)
BONUS TIP: You don't have to use it on your entire eyelid. If you do have time to apply some regular eyeshadow first, dab this on the inner corner of your lids over top of your eyeshadow to add a little sparkle to your everyday or evening look!
2. Red Lipstick
The perfect shade of red lipstick is something that every girl needs to have in her arsenal. I like to put red lips on when I don't have time to do a lot of eye makeup but still want to look professional & put-together. A bold lip is one of the easiest ways to be lazy with makeup but still look dolled up! Uh oh... my secret's out. Now you will know when I'm being lazy ;)
One of my favorite looks to do is a very simple cat eye or just one swipe of black eyeliner on the upper lid with mascara and some red lips. Lately I've been into the matte reds that last all day. Here's one of my favorites:
3. Day Planner
I'll admit, I'm not the best with time-management. I tend to lose track of it if I'm not following a set schedule. In the salon my whole day is run by appointments so it's easy for me to stick to my schedule when I'm there, but in my off time I find it harder to get everything I need to get done unless I organize my time properly.
To help keep my schedule & to-do list organized, I use a day planner. My two favorites are my Day Designer or a colorful Erin Condren Planner. Since the holidays get extra busy, I like being able to have my weekly and monthly calendar at my fingertips too. I also believe in the power of hand writing something down. Call me old-fashioned but putting things in my phone's calendar just doesn't cut it for me. Both the Day Designer and the Erin Condren planners fit in my purse and go EVERYWHERE with me.
Check these two out if you have yet to order your 2019 planner:
I don't know about you but to me, there's just something about the chilly winter season that makes me want to cook everything in my slow cooker... however; since we are in the midst of the most wonderful (and busiest) time of the year, I don't have time to soak and scrub out the crock after I cook in it.
Say helloooo to Slow Cooker Liners. These things are seriously a LIFE SAVER! I don't know how I managed before I found these! I use them for everything I cook in the crock pot- even soups! When I'm done I just pull the liner out, throw it away and lightly wash the crock & lid. It makes cooking those holiday side dishes easy peasy!
Last but not least is one of my absolute favorites. I'm including this one not because it will save you time, but in hopes that it will remind you to slow down. It's way too easy to get caught up in all the hustle and bustle that the holidays bring that we forget to take care of ourselves. I give you permission to set aside some time for YOU and to make self-care a priority. When I remember to take care of myself, I am always better for it and functioning at my best.
Give yourself the gift of relaxation this year. Taking a hot bath is one of my favorite ways to unwind and spend some time alone with me. This tray perfectly holds my wine, my iPad, my book and my holiday scented candle for optimum relaxation. Nothing cures the winter blues like a long soak in the tub!
I hope you find these items useful during your busy holiday season, and HEY! - They would even make for some great gifts! Merry Christmas and I'm wishing you & yours a wonderful New Year!
